Machynlleth is a tiny market town nestled in the undulating hills of Mid Wales. In addition to the traditional street markets held every Wednesday, the town's streets spread out from the 19th-century clock tower and offer a decent mix of specialty stores, taverns, and cafes. The town has two art galleries and is home to the Museum of Modern Arts, Wales, which hosts concerts and lectures in its 400-seat theatre and exhibits the work of a variety of international artists. Machynlleth is only ten miles from the shore, making it an ideal location for enjoying the area's excellent walking, cycling, fishing, and rock climbing.

The cottage was clean and spacious. Our host left us some Welsh cakes and milk which was very welcome and he even called round to see us after we arrived. Close to Aberdovey which has a lovely beach where we took our dog, other beaches not far away too, plus woodland walks which we loved. Lots of places to visit, we stayed for 2 weeks and didn’t run out of things to do even in wet weather. Would highly recommend Tan Y Capel for a holiday.

There are various local walks from the door and the village itself is quiet and peaceful. The owner popped around to check everything was ok for us and left us some milk and Welsh cakes which was thoughtful. Our dog enjoyed the secure garden and it was nice to wake up to the sound of birdsong. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable kitchen and dining area. Great log burning stove in sitting room with multiple sofas. Magnificent walk in shower complete with coloured lighting effect! Friendly owner. Good local walks.
