Located in the charming literary town of Hay-on-Wye, this four-person cottage puts you within easy browsing distance of the town's 20-plus bookshops, cafés and independent shops, so you can pop out for a morning mosey without even getting in the car. It’s a lovely spot for couples or a small family, with Hay Castle within a few metres for a dose of local history and The Globe for exhibitions, talks and live events during your stay. Pick up something tasty from the weekly farmers' market, then head down to the Warren, just 0.5 miles away, for a picnic by the River Wye or a paddle on a warm day. For something more active, hire a canoe and drift along the Wye, or pull on your walking boots and travel south to Hay Bluff or Offa’s Dyke Path (both within 5.5 miles).
Upon entering the rear door of this beautiful end-terrace stone cottage, guests will immediately seek out the utility room to slip off their walking boots and pop items into the washing machine. Step into the heart of the retreat, the lounge/diner. This comfortable space is stylish and the ideal place to relax and catch up with friends and family. Gather around the cosy wood burner, put your feet up on the sofa, and enjoy watching a gripping programme on the TV. A circular dining table has more than enough space for four guests to eat. The kitchen is behind a farmhouse-style door and features a well-equipped station for relaxed and formal dinners, including an electric oven and hob, as well as a dishwasher for easy cleanup. Follow the William Morris wallpaper up to the landing to discover a family bathroom with a bath, shower and WC. There are two spacious bedrooms to choose from; one king-size with a dual aspect with natural light, and the twin room that offers gorgeous rolling views.
The enclosed garden is accessible within 20 metres via the side path, where you can relax and enjoy the countryside views. This lovely space also boasts a summer house for a bit of shade and dining furniture for tucking into al fresco cuisine. At the bottom of the garden, there is a steep drop on the other side of the fence; please be mindful of young children and pets.
