Set close to the famous town of books, Hay-on-Wye, this traditional stone and recently renovated granary is set in the heart of a working farm and offers a cosy base that is perfect for couples wanting to enjoy the rugged landscape and many market towns of the Brecon Beacons. It accepts one four-legged friend and has a pleasant garden with seating.
There are a few stone steps up to the front door which leads through to the characterful open-plan living space. Immediately, your eyes will be drawn to the stunning red brick feature wall. Sink into the two-seater sofa and watch a movie on the Smart TV. Move over to the kitchen area where a deep-set window allows for light to filter in whilst also providing a little more storage space. Whip up meals and then serve them at the wooden dining table and chairs. Also on this floor is a shower room, perfect for when you want to clean down before bed. When eyes begin to droop, pull down the ladder to access the double room which features Velux windows and a vaulted ceiling. In the morning, head outside with your coffee and spend some time on the furniture in the garden, which is also shared with the owners.
Just 0.25 miles away is the quaint village of Painscastle which has a welcoming village inn. If you want to stretch your legs a little more, visit The Begwyns: a set of National Trust hills encompassing 580 acres of breathtaking Brecon Beacons Nation Park views. And not forgetting Hay-on-Wye, with its international book festival and a plethora of engaging second-hand book shops.
