There are also plenty of activities in the local area, with a pony trekking centre nearby the friendly guides will lead you up over the Begwns on horseback for a morning, or nip over the other side of the hill and discover the canoe hire and adventure training centres, offering everything from a quick hour on the River Wye, to a Vespa ride up into the Black Mountains, bicycle hire to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park, or a test of nerve on the high wire ropes. Hay on Wye, just 5 miles away, is famous for its international book festival, a fine selection of pubs and restaurants and an art house cinema where you can relax and step back in time. The accommodation is nestled into the hillside across a meadow and babbling stream. Sympathetically landscaped, the stone bothy sits within a raised terrace.
