This charming, restored stable block is an ideal rural retreat for small families or couples who want to relax in tranquil surroundings and explore the best that the Brecon Beacons National Park has to offer. Fill your days with rambles on the Clydach Gorge that passes the cottage before coming home to a toasty wood burner and piping hot cups of tea.
After a day of taking in the sights, there's nothing better than returning to a cosy cottage and snuggling up in the open-plan living space beside the cosy wood burner-effect gas fire. When you're not curling up with a good programme or losing yourself in a novel, begin whipping up a storm in the light and airy kitchen, which contains everything you could need for memorable meals. The dining table comfortably seats four people, while the outside area provides space for everyone to gather for a BBQ or laze in the sunshine. The two bedrooms are delightful – a ground-floor double and a twin. The 18th-century original doors are still intact, the decor is welcoming for a great night's sleep, and both rooms boast en-suite shower rooms. Each morning, enjoy your brew out in the beatiful grounds of the owner's house, where you can zone into the trickle of the river and the harmony of birdsong. There is off-road parking for three cars opposite the property.
While you're welcome to explore to your heart's content, we highly recommend the waymarked walking route of Clydach Gorge. It begins just outside the cottage and meanders through a captivating, wooded valley, stopping at waterfalls, caves, and the remains of an 18th-century ironworks. Pop by Abergavenny, Crickhowell and Gilwern (all within 6.5 miles) to pick up your ingredients for the week or treat yourselves to a mouthwatering meal at one of the fine restaurants and pubs available.
