About this property

Situated in a tranquil spot at the foot of the Skirrid, along the eastern end of the Black Mountains, this delightful shepherd’s hut makes a cosy, quirky and romantic couple’s retreat. Offering relaxing accommodation for two guests, the hut has a range of useful features including a private hot tub, a handy hammock, underfloor heating, and a welcoming wood burner. Enjoying a serene and secluded location along the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons, this characterful hideaway is perfect for walkers, cyclists, climbers, and nature lovers.

A few steps lead up into the first, and larger, of two huts where you will find the lounge and main sleeping area. Featuring a comfortable double bed, Smart TV, wood burner, kettle and toaster, this cheerful hut also benefits from underfloor heating. A door leads through to the well-appointed shower room. The second, smaller hut houses the kitchen, with a handy dining area and further seating. Back outside, the garden area has a sheltered hot tub for you to unwind in, alongside a BBQ, hammock, and a choice of outdoor furniture. There’s also a lovely tearoom on-site (open Thursday to Sunday) run by the owners of the property.

This cute retreat is a fabulous base for discovering a stunning part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Eager climbers can attempt the Sugar Loaf (5 miles) or the Skirrid itself (4 miles) while keen walkers can explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. To the south, the thriving market town of Abergavenny (2 miles) has a wealth of fantastic pubs, shops and restaurants, with the River Usk running past, offering miles of tranquil walks. The area has a wide variety of popular attractions and historic landmarks for you to discover including the Big Pit National Coal Museum, Clydach Gorge, White Castle, Goytre Wharf and Raglan Castle, all within 10 miles.
