About this property

Criccieth 2.4 miles. Ty Gwenno is nestled on the outskirts of the seaside resort of Criccieth and is a charming cottage attached to the owner's country house and dating back 600 years, the cottage was previously a servant's quarters. Ty Gwenno is perfect for couples looking to escape for a rural escape, with the beach and plenty of amenities within a short distance. Be charmed by your own self-contained entrance and lovely white flowered garden with herbs and seating, where you can dine alfresco or enjoy a drink outside on a summer's day. Enter the heart of the home for a quiet evening in, setting down your coats as you admire the high ceilings, exposed beams, and snug ambiance in the open-plan living space.

You can look forward to cozying up in the sitting area, where a warming wood burning fire fills the room, escaping reality as you watch a film on the smart TV, or curling up with a good book. Continuing to impress is the well-equipped kitchen, a compact space fitted with contemporary amenities for a romantic date night meal which can be enjoyed on the intimate dining table over a bottle of wine. Also on the ground floor is a convenient utility room and a shower room, where you can prepare for the day ahead in style. When sleep calls, head up the stairs to the rustic mezzanine sleeping quarters, housing an inviting king-size bed underneath sloped ceilings, A-frame beams and antique features, with a wooden balcony looking over to the lounge.

The center of Criccieth is just over two miles away where you can browse around a wealth of shopping options, traditional pubs and waterside restaurants, as well as spend an entire day at one of two beaches with golden sands and shingle backed by a vibrant promenade. Local attractions include Criccieth Castle, Afon Dwyfor and the town of Porthmadog where you can discover the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway, the Maritime Museum, Porthmadog Harbor, and Black Rock Llamas. Explore the renowned Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park to ascend one of the many mountains, walking trails, cycling routes and outdoor adventure, or visit Pwllheli's endearing marina for a day out sailing.

Alternatively, visit the unique Portmeirion, an Italianate village where you can admire romantic architecture, Riviera inspired houses, pastel buildings, and a sparkling quayside. Stroll hand in hand for romantic evening walks along one of the many coastal paths, breathing in the fresh seaside air of Marine Beach, all the way to the peaceful Porthmadog harbor. Immerse yourself in pure thrills at Zip World Slate Caverns, the world's first ever subterranean playground with the chance to bounce on trampolines in the middle of enchanting caves, discover history as you climb through the ancient caverns, and take part in a hair-raising adventure zip line and adventure course.

Ty Gwenno is an inviting base for you and your other half to escape for a weekend of romance.

Often described as the 'Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia’, now known as Eryri, this delightful seaside town is situated just 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town’s 13th-century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Eryri mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Eryri National Park. Stroll along the beaches, watch porpoises playing in the surf, or relax in the various pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, sampling the famous Cadwalader’s ice cream. Further afield, attractions such as Portmeirion’s wonderful Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway in Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Llyn Peninsula are all within an easy drive.
