If you’re looking for that dream escape to the country, then look no further - hidden away between Corwen and Betwys-y-Coed near the borders of the Snowdonia National Park, Cwt Glo and Y Stabl offer exquisite holiday accommodation for friends and family. Both properties feature eco-friendly biomass heating, a heart-warming wood burner and a patio area for making the most of the warm weather.
These two hidden treasures lie within the owner’s scenic grounds, enjoying unbroken views over pastureland, lake and up to the hills – a most evocative setting that’s ideal for trying walks, leisurely wanders and all-day bike rides. Be sure to bring the camera and a pair of binoculars, as the region is renowned for its diverse range of birdlife. A 10-minute walk leads to the village of Cerrigydrudion, a charming little town with a small supermarket, bank and a cinema.
Cwt Glo (ref OYZ) and Y Stabl (ref OJ9) are ideal not only for relaxing holidays by the fire – with activities and attractions galore in the vicinity, there’s never a dull moment staying at these holiday cottages. If you have teens in tow, a trip to Zipworld at Bethesda and Blaenau Ffestiniog should be high on the agenda. Stretching 1 mile long, the 500ft-high thrill ride is cited as Europe’s longest zip line, and is also the fastest in the world. And if that isn’t enough, there’s the National White Water Centre at Bala, and Surf Snowdonia at Dolgarrog boasts the UK’s only artificial inland surfing lagoon.
History buffs are sure to get a kick out of the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, a history lesson that spans the Industrial Revolution and the Romans, stretching back some 500 million years. There’s also sailing at Bala Lake, fishing at the Brenig and Alwen reservoirs (5 miles), horse riding nearby and go karting just 1 mile away. Shop and pub ½ mile. Y Stabl (ref OJ9) can be booked together with Cwt Glo (ref OYZ) to accommodate up to 8 guests.
