Llandudno is a popular tourist destination because of its location between two headlands, the Great Orme and the Little Orme, and its two different coastlines. The North Shore, with its broad promenade and imposing crescent of Victorian hotels, and the West Shore, with its miles of sandy shoreline, sand dunes, and superb views towards Anglesey, are both excellent options for beachgoers in this town. However, the best views can be had from the top of the 679-foot Great Orme, which can be reached via the Great Orme Tramway or an exciting cable car ride of more than a mile's length. Within walking distance of the boardwalk, you'll find a wide variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, and cafés, as well as Venue Cymru, North Wales' premier theatrical stage for opera, ballet, musicals, comedy, and visiting orchestras. Conwy, a town that is now a World Heritage Site, is a short drive away. Conwy, a true mediaeval gem, is dominated by a magnificent castle and is entirely encircled by its well-preserved town walls. There is a lot to do and see in North Wales, from relaxing on the miles of sandy beaches to hiking and climbing in the nearby Snowdonia National Park.
