About this property

The small Welsh village of Llanfair Talhaiarn is home to this traditional stone-built cottage, Pen Y Bont. With beautiful river views, this pet-friendly holiday home is a great spot for discovering this part of North Wales, within easy reach of the stunning coastline. You are welcomed to the property by a gated shared driveway, with safe parking, before you step into the kitchen/diner which is well-equipped to enjoy a self-catering holiday, including a handy washing machine and dishwasher. Rustle up an evening meal for your loved ones to enjoy round the dining table before heading to the sitting room to relax with the warmth of the woodburning stove. Climbing upstairs there is a super-king-size bedroom for when it’s time to retire to bed, a king-size bedroom where you will find it hard to take your eyes off the river views, and a sweet single bedroom for added privacy. These well-finished bedrooms are complimented by a shower room, where guests can wash their sandy feet after a day at the beach or freshen up in time for a fancy evening out. Outside, there is an enclosed garden with lawn for your furry friends to play and furniture to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining on the patio. Pen Y Bont is just a stone's throw away from two village pubs, a post office which doubles as a shop for any essentials you may need, and a Olivia’s Café which serves takeaway breakfasts. Take a short drive into the market town of Abergele which has plenty of shops, bars, and eateries to suit everyone, as well as a golf course, the Manorafon Farm Park and Gwrych Castle (now home to ITV's I'm a Celebrity!), as well as the long beach at nearby Pensarn. Slightly further along the coast is the shoreside town of Colwyn Bay where you can relax on a sandy beach, get involved with some watersports, take a stroll down the promenade, or visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo which is home to red pandas, tigers and snow leopards. Nearby are the two beaches of Llandudno, alongside the promenade and bustling Victorian pier, as well as The Great Orme where you can enjoy a cable car ride over the world's largest prehistoric copper mine. Also, within driving distance, you can also walk the castle walls at Conwy, enjoy a scenic walk within Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park or explore the SeaQuarium in Rhyl. North Wales offers so much fun and scenery for everyone to enjoy and with Pen Y Bont as your base, you can be sure to see it all.

The wonderful hamper that greeted us on our arrival was the best we have ever seen! Our stay was for 7 weeks during the winter months of January and February, we did enjoyed sitting by the log/coal burner in the lounge of an evening, there is also central heating and the cottage was cosy. The location is perfect for exploring Cheshire and all of North Wales with just a short drive to the North Wales Express A55 which quickly gets you to these areas. The village was idyllic with its river setting, 2 pubs and the local village shop/post office, and a children's park and we imagine even more picturesque in the summer. Everyone we met was kind and friendly. A special thanks to Paula who made sure we had the most amazing stay, on hand if we were to need anything yet unintrusive. We have stayed at a good number of cottages and this one comes top of our list.

Beautifully clean, spacious and well equipped. Paula was so attentive ensuring we had plenty of wood and coal daily. Fantastic hamper on arrival full of goodies and that also had treats and a toy for my pooch. Eggs, milk and bread also provided. Such peaceful surroundings and we all enjoyed every minute. We will definitely return again, we love the place.
