Such a home from home! This was our second visit because we enjoyed it so much last year! The only reason local amenities is rated good and not excellent is because of the location - far from the ‘maddening crowd’ and from our perspective that is most definitely a real bonus! However, the grocery stores that we did need to use were more than adequately stocked and not that many miles away. The cottage is in a stunning position. Right on the edge of a reasonably-sized loch, there is never a dull moment from the cuckoo and its surrogate mother flying by, hen harriers and the short-eared owl hunting to geese, ducks and divers galore. The call of the curlew and the ubiquitous oyster catcher are constantly busy and this year we saw so many lapwings. Being there over the summer solstice was amazing and we had a few spectacular sunsets and sunrises.Comfortable beds and a thoroughly well-equipped kitchen is great. There is a wide selection of books and we used a couple of the lovely jigsaws this year on a wet afternoon. We often comment that it’s like the owner has tried to think of everything that would help to make your stay the best possible!
