Take a scenic drive and visit towns such as Lochmaddy, which has a good selection of shops and places to eat and drink and is the gateway to places such as the Isle of Skye which is also well worth a visit while you’re in the Hebrides. For a memorable holiday escape, pay a visit to Gualan Sands. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, or Oban to Lochboisdale.

Creagorry is a peaceful coastal village on the south shore of Benbecula. It is known for the causeway which links it to South Uist and it offers several attractions including a historic 19th century inn. Dining options include the nearby Dark Island Hotel, while you can stock up on essentials at the Co-op. Within easy reach of the village is the lively town of Balivanich, where you can find further attractions and amenities such as a bakery, takeaway and the island’s airport.
