We really enjoyed our recent visit. The facilities are 5 star, loved the rain head shower in the en-suite, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would ever need. Loved the hot tub and outside decking area. Location wise, it's great if you don't want to be near anywhere too busy. The local village of Lauder has a small shop, takeaway and a couple of pubs. It is still close enough to Edinburgh for a day out, took us about 35 mins to newcraighall Park and ride and then just a 10min train to the city centre. Overall a really amazing place we will definitely be back. Only improvement, would be there is definitely an issues with cobwebs, above the bed in the master bedroom and the light above the dinning table was particularly bad. But you are in the middle of the forest so I expect some cobwebs.

The lodge was absolutely perfect. Clean, bright, all facilities working. I especially liked how the hot tub was fenced off with its own area with a gate, this allowed us to have our dog with us in this area and not have the free run of the whole veranda. Also because of the high fences around the spacious hot tub there was absolutely no wind and it was comfortably hot even when it was minus 1 outside. We walked one of the designated walks the with wonderful views of the castle into Lauder which has a bakery, deli, butchers, small shop. Another day we drove into Edinburgh which is an easy drive away. The lodge also has a book of useful information including recommended things to do which is a nice touch. We have been to quite a few lodges and this was by far the best. Would recommend it to anyone.
