Situated in an idyllic location with direct access to the Caledonian Canal and stunning views of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor mountain range, these detached lodges (refs W8146 and W8664) make an ideal holiday base for touring the Highlands and the west coast of Scotland. Fort William is known as the ’outdoor capital’, and is home to the World Mountain Bike Championships, Excellent climbing, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and walking are popular outdoor pursuits. Golf fishing, kayaking and sailing are also available nearby. The area is famous for its breath-taking scenery, used as a backdrop in many film, including Braveheart, Rob Roy and the Harry Potter movies. Many of the islands including Skye, Mull and Iona can be reached by short ferry crossings and the steam train to Mallaig makes for a great day out. Wildlife is abundant with golden eagles, porpoises, red deer, otters and pine martens often spotted. There are many historic castles, monuments, sandy beaches, gardens and museums to explore. Visit the magical Isle of Skye, Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, Loch Ness, Glencoe or the bustling harbour town of Oban. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We felt right at home here and especially appreciated the personal touch of the host. The surroundings were amazing and the chalet enhanced the that experience. The beds were really comfortable, the lounge was cosy and warm.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Dontra Log Chalets 20th-27th Sep 2025. The accommodation was very clean and maintained throughout. We appreciated that the owner left simple items there to use like a tea towel/washing up liquid/hand soap etc, as you can guarantee you forget something on your first day. Donna the owner was very friendly and helpful and kept communication from before the holiday and during the stay.She was very kind to pop round to us on the Sunday and check everything was ok and recommend places to go. The chalet had beautiful surrounding views including Ben Nevis. It was only about 3 miles drive away from local amenities and Fort William town centre.(Aldi/M&S/Morrisons/many petrols stations/costa/cafes etc) I can also highly recommend visiting the Loch Ness Centre tour and cruise in Drumnadrochit which is about 1 1/2 hrs away from Fort William.

Absolutely beautiful lodge in a simply stunning location. The lodge is very well equipped, beautifully furnished and situated in a both a beautiful and convenient location. Waking up every day to the magnificent views of Ben Nevis was always a highlight. Minutes to get to the Caledonian canal which is great for cycling or walking along and only 5 mins to Fort William, as well convenient for other locations (Loch Ness, Glen Nevis, Glen Coe etc). My children of 6 & 8 loved it, especially having the run of the upstairs twin room! Donna the owner was very accommodating and helpful and we will most definitely be going back! One of the best holidays we have ever had - thank you!!
