Further afield, Fort William (11 miles) sits on the shore of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak. For less strenuous adventures, a gondola ride at the Nevis Range offers panoramic views, while the Jacobite Steam Train travels between Fort William and Mallaig – an iconic journey through the heart of the Highlands that famously features the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
