Situated on the Black Isle, Chanonry View Holiday Cottage is perched on the hill above the historic, attractive village of Fortrose. And it truly lives up to its name, the view to Chanonry Point, the Inner Moray Firth and south to the mountains is unbelievably good.

A short walk away from the centre of Fortrose is a treat, you have cafes, restaurants, bakeries, a shop, a golf course, a Cathedral ruin, and of course the iconic Chanonry Point lighthouse, built by Stevenson. This spot by the lighthouse you’ll be pleased to hear is the best place to watch bottlenose dolphins from the shore in the UK and arguably the whole of Europe. Neighbouring Fortrose is the coastal village of Rosemarkie, the places are only separated by a few paddocks. Rosemarkie has a long sandy beach leading all the way to the lighthouse. You’ll enjoy the walk from your cottage on the hill down into Fortrose, along the golf course to the lighthouse, back to Rosemarkie along the sandy beach and then the short hop back to Fortrose. There are countless day trips for you to plan and enjoy.

The accommodation itself is presented to a high standard and it’s set-up to enjoy the vantage point. The view from the cottage is simply jaw-dropping. Closer to home you’ll have the chance to see the resident pine marten in the garden and there are frequent sightings of owls too. It’s a joy to either sit inside and look out or sit out and be a part of it all. There are two spacious bedrooms, with the master double having an en-suite shower room. The living and dining rooms are great spaces making the best of the view. The kitchen has all that you would want for a self-catering holiday for when you’re not eating out. It’s perfectly placed and truly unique with its incredible view out to sea and to the mountains further south. Beach 1 mile.

Very quiet and relaxing especially being able to sit outside looking over the Moray Firth after a day of exploring.
