Salt Life was perfect in every way - attention to detail, comfortable and the cottage has been very tastefully modernised. The housekeeper does a great job as it was immaculate when we arrived. The welcome pack on a tray was useful - if you arrived with little it would provide for you through your first evening. And the small log burning stove was great adding cosy to the stylish upstairs sitting room. Port William is an attractive coastal village with friendly locals and a Spar shop. “The View” - the cafe run for PISRAC (independent lifeboat) by volunteers - serves good food and drinks (the bar is open until 11pm on Friday & Saturdays in winter opening) We definitely hope to return

We enjoyed our stay at Saltlife Cottage. The view over Luce Bay from the upstairs lounge sells it. We used it as a base to explore a part of Scotland we haven't visited before and to play some different golf courses. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, and served its purpose. Minor irritations were that it would be better in the upstairs bathroom if the shower head was fixed to the wall and there was a shower screen. The dining area / table in the kitchen is functional, but small. There isn't a great deal going on in Port William, although `The View' cafe / restaurant is excellent, so you find your have to travel a fair distance to visit places of interest and things like supermarkets and places to eat. The Priory, Round House, and Musuem in Whithorn, and Portpatrick are two places we would recommend. The history of the area is fascinating and the coastline is particularly attractive in many places. We played golf at St. Medan and Newton Stuart, both of which are worth a visit. It was windy, but thankfully we managed to avoid the rain!. The Sunday Lunch at St. Medan was really good and great value for money. Everybody is friendly and welcoming. So, all-in-all we would recommend Salflife Cottage!
