About this property

An outstanding holiday house in the pretty fishing village of Garlieston the name says it all, situated on the front with views over the bowling green to Garlieston harbour and the sea beyond.

A room with A view!

The layout ensures that all main rooms have sea views out over the harbour, with the Lake District visible on a clear day, and the traditional town house has been carefully renovated to retain all the character of a period home whilst providing modern accommodation furnished and equipped throughout to a high standard. The house provides very comfortable family accommodation but is equally cosy for a couple on their own.

Garlieston itself has an attractive harbour with both pleasure and commercial fishing boats making it an ideal base for sailing. The original village was planned in the mid 18th century by Lord Garlies, later 6th Earl of Galloway and the modern village retains the original quiet character.

The village has an excellent pub and restaurant and it is worth exploring the bustling town at Newton Stewart which has many excellent shops and places to eat, or in contrast the quiet and peaceful book town at Wigtown which boasts many unique and interesting book shops and cafes such as the Beltie Shop and tea room.

There are walks straight from the front door to the seashore and pretty path past the grounds of Galloway House resisting if possible the draw of the sandy beach at Rigg Bay to continue to Cruggleton Castle and arch.

The variety of outdoor pursuits ensure that there is something of interest for all, be it secluded sandy beaches, a variety of testing golf courses, forest walks and both game and sea fishing. The botanic Gardens at Logan and Mull of Galloway Light house also make a good day trip to explore more of the area.

Fabulous holiday let - a real home from home. Very comfortable and warm. Lots of attention to detail and thoughtful touches and a very comfy bed. Beautiful views from the windows and good walks from the door. Having The Hive cafe on the doorstep was an added bonus. The area is stunning with lots to explore. Kerry and Andy are first rate hosts. Highly recommend.
