About this property

This stone-built terraced Galloway cottage is part of a courtyard steading conversion and accommodates four people in a double and a twin bedroom. With views across farmland to the Galloway Hills beyond, this Newton Stewart cottage has been comfortably furnished throughout and boasts an open plan living area with a kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Ideally located for exploring the Galloway Hills or the Machars Peninsula, this Dumfries cottage is an ideal base. Note: This property is next to Ref. 26255, together they sleep 10. EPC Rating: Band B

Famous for its salmon and trout fishing, the market town of Newton Stewart is situated in a stunning location between the rolling countryside of the Machars and the Galloway Forest Park. Steeped in history, Scotland's first Christian Missionary landed at The Machars, founding the country's first church in Whithorn in AD 397. The Whithorn Dig Visitor's Centre is also close by, displaying material unearthed through years of excavation projects. Nearby, visitors can enjoy miles of coastline combining a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky shores, both of which are home to a diverse variety of birds. Alternatively, a trip inland will lead to superb walking country in the Galloway Hills and Forest Park. The surrounding area also boasts wonderful sailing, riding and fishing facilities, in addition to a variety of golf courses.

All amenities provided and easy to maintain without much work on our part. We managed to trip out every day and visit all the castles and gardens we planned to visit.

Lovely spacious and comfortable cottage with beautiful views of the Galloway Hills and river Cree. Good sized fridge/freezer and excellent cooking facilities. Open fields to the rear and nice cycle/ walking path to Newton Stewart, our dog loved it. One slight gripe, not really big is the WiFi is quite unreliable, so make sure you have plenty of data on your devices. However, I would highly recommend this location for a relaxing break in outstanding surroundings

Although there is a lot of outdoor space, a bit of private outdoor space would have made things.
