About this property

This fully-refurbished, modern, detached cottage is in the historic coastal fishing village of Isle of Whithorn. Close to the sea, this cottage also has expansive inland views of the gentle farmland of the Machars Peninsula. The cottage offers modern comfortable accommodation comprising two bedrooms, a double and a children's bunk bedroom, a sitting room with dining area and French doors opening to the front of the property. At the rear is an expansive shared lawn which is ideal for either children to play in or for the grownups to soak up the tranquillity of the surroundings. The atmosphere is enhanced by the harbour of Whithorn which boasts a hotel offering good food and a welcoming bar as well as a general store with a Post Office. This is the ideal location to explore this historic corner of Scotland with Mesolithic and Iron Age Forts, ancient standing stones, chapels and castles. Scotland's famous book town of Wigtown is close by, as are the sandy beaches and forest parks which offer the complete holiday for the whole family. A fabulous holiday cottage for discovering this delightful region of Scotland.

Known as the Isle of Whithorn, this village is actually not an island, but a small village on the Scottish coast in Dumfries and Galloway. Amenities in the village include two pubs/hotels, a Post Office/general store, and a harbour. There is so much history in this area, from Iron Age forts to 11th century churches, and standing stones to castles built by Robert The Bruce. The 'book town' of Scotland, Wigtown, is a few miles away from the village, and the rest of lovely Dumfries and Galloway is on the doorstep.

We have no complaints. It was very comfortable. Not far from the sea which was nice. Quiet time of rest for us. Would definitely recommend it.

The smell of damp and mould hit you on opening the door. Mould on main bedroom wall and in bathroom. Blind in spare room mouldy. Rugs dirty. Freezer iced up. Patio door unable to be used. We came home after two days because of the state of the place, therefore ruining our holiday.

Needs a drying towel rail in bathroom. A coffee table would be useful for drinks. All other requirements are catered for. Overall a nice property at a reasonable rent.
