Guests say

Oyster Bay Lodge is highly praised for its stunning location, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, beautiful views, and thoughtful touches, including dog biscuits. While there are some minor maintenance issues and occasional concerns about heating, the overall experience is very positive, with many guests planning to return.

Most guests found the lodge to be super clean, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, a few mentioned issues with dog hair and cleanliness of kitchenware, slightly affecting the overall score.

The lodge's location is consistently lauded for its breathtaking views and proximity to local attractions. The peaceful setting and access to walks are particularly appreciated, making it an ideal retreat.

Guests report the lodge as very comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy beds and spacious living areas. A few comments about a soft mattress and heating issues are noted but do not detract significantly from the overall comfort.

The lodge is well-equipped, with a fully furnished kitchen and comfortable living spaces. Some guests experienced minor issues with appliances and suggested improvements, leading to a slightly reduced score.

While guests mention thoughtful touches like dog biscuits, there is no consistent reference to gifts or additional thoughtful gestures that would warrant a score in this category.

About this property

Dalbeattie 3.8 miles. Found in the lovely Coastal Kippford holiday park, near the town of Dalbeattie in Scotland, you will find this beautifully decorated two-bedroom lodge, with outstanding views to the distant hills and countryside. The lodge would be the ideal setting for a family holiday, a couple’s getaway, or even a reunion of friends, thanks to its large open-plan living space. After an afternoon of walking to the nearby lochs, head back over to Oyster Bay Lodge, kick off your boots on the decking and step into the living area, where you can find an inviting sofa arrangement to curl up on in front of a film on the wall-mounted television.

The electric fire can provide some extra warmth on a chilly evening, whilst the dinner is being prepared in the kitchen; the chef of the group will love cooking up a storm on the 8-ring gas hob that sits atop the double oven. The rest of the party can eagerly wait for their meal at the dining table, with enough seating for a few extra friends to pop by for the evening. When it's time to say goodnight, you can choose from two well-presented bedrooms; a double with en-suite shower, basin and WC and a twin room, both complete with walk-in wardrobe space for all of your personal items.

The bathroom that serves the twin room benefits from a bath with a shower over, so you can take it slow with an indulgent soak, or get ready in a flash with a quick shower, the choice is yours! The outside decked area has a fantastic barbecue for when the sun is shining, with table and chairs for some alfresco dining, all you need is a cold drink in hand! One of Scotland's prettiest seaside villages on the shore of the estuary of the River Urr, there are many things to do in the local area including coastal and forest walks, golf, cycling, fishing and sailing.

For a day out, head over to Threave Castle, only accessible by boat as it's situated on an island in the middle of the River Dee, it was built back in the 14th century by the Lord of Galloway at the time, it is sure to impress. Oyster Bay Lodge is a wonderful property, perfect for a break away with your loved ones to take in the beauty of Scotland. EPC Rating: Band C

We arrived at the property at 5.30pm on Christmas Eve, the property was cold on arrival, 2 of the thermostats were hanging off the radiators so no way of controlling the temperatures on those, on putting the tv on there wasn't any signal, and considering we wanted to spend Christmas relaxing watching tv it wasn't a good start. We phoned the owner who couldn't really help apart from phoning the site warden. The warden (Paul) came and spent a couple of hours but couldn't get it working, I felt bad for him after all it was late Christmas Eve, he said he would come back on Christmas morning. I decided to get everything ready for out Christmas dinner, the cooker was an absolute disgrace and everything was thick with grease, worse still no cleaning products to clean it with apart from wipes which I had bought. No roasting tin, baking trays full of food and grease and the cutlery in the drawer wasn't clean. I put everything in the dishwasher. The cupboards with the pans next to the cooker were also thick with grease. Armchair could do with a good clean. I know lots can be due to previous guests, however everything should be checked before guests arrive. It's not how we want to be spending Christmas Eve. Christmas morning Paul came again and had a mess about with the tv and discovered that the aerial box outside was swinging in the wind and full of rust and water, so he spent a while trying to get it sorted for us and eventually late lunchtime he did a temporary fix, it was a little hit and miss and for much of the time the signal would just drop which could've been weather related or the fact the aerial did need replacing/repairing. We didn't pay cheap for the lodge over the festive period and apart from us bringing our own things for Christmas there was no welcome pack or sign of Christmas in there and after reading previous reviews we were so looking forward to a relaxing Christmas, the start of the break was extremely stressful, I know having tv for some isn't the be all and end all but for us with our busy lives all we wanted to do was relax and watch it and it wasn't always possible. It's a shame as the place just needs a little tlc. Beds were comfy and the location was fantastic.
