Guests consistently praise the Jura, Oban lodge for its peaceful and beautiful setting, with a convenient location near Oban. The property is described as clean, well-equipped, and cosy, offering a snug retreat with a particularly comfortable bed. The on-site Barn Bar adds to the charm, providing lovely dining options. While one review mentioned a need for improved cleanliness in the kitchen, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with guests enjoying the welcoming atmosphere and responsive host.
Most guests found the lodge to be spotlessly clean, with only one review suggesting the kitchen cleanliness could be improved. The positive remarks about the cleanliness in the rest of the lodge contribute to a high score.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, being close to Oban and set in a lovely rural glen. The easy access to supplies and the surrounding countryside contribute to an excellent score.
The lodge is frequently described as cosy and peaceful, with a comfortable bed and adequate heating. However, one review mentioned uncomfortable living room furniture, slightly lowering the score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and the inclusion of electricity in the rental price. The prompt provision of missing items by the host is noted. The mention of uncomfortable furniture and the need for a DVD player setup video slightly impacts the score.
While the reviews reflect a responsive and caring host, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that could be evaluated under this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.
Jura (Lodge No17), accredited with a Silver Green Tourism Award for sustainable practices and values, offers cosy, dog friendly accommodation for four, in the scenic Lerags Glen on the West Coast.
The rural location ensures peace and privacy but is still less than 3 miles from the vibrant harbour town of Oban, with views across open farmland and walks from the door. Within the same site there is a small children’s play area and The Barn, a rustic pub with plenty of character (seasonal hours, please check). A good place to catch up over a drink and tasty local fare following the days adventures. Due to its rural location, you can enjoy some amazing star gazing on a clear night.
Oban, known as the Seafood Capital of Scotland, has a wide range of seafood & fish restaurants and an excellent fish shop if you wish to cook your own. A visit to the Green Seafood Shack on the quayside is a must for those who love their shellfish. The town is otherwise known as the Gateway to the Isles with the Calmac ferry terminal on South Pier giving access by boat to Mull, Colonsay, Tiree, Lismore and Barra. And there’s a handy water taxi across to Oban’s nearest island – Kerrera – from the town’s North Pier.
The town has two impressive cathedrals and an array of independent shops, including the must visit Oban Chocolate Shop and Oban Distillery. There are several supermarkets, cafes, pubs and restaurants, a cinema, golf course, swimming pool and a selection of other land and water-based sports facilities. Not forgetting safe sandy beaches for those looking for a traditional ‘seaside holiday’, numerous historical sites within easy reach including Dunstaffnage and Dunollie Castles and Inveraray Jail and for the horticulturist’s, visits to Inveraray Castle & Gardens and Arduaine Gardens are a must. There really is plenty for all ages to explore.

Beautiful purpose built lodge. Spotlessly clean. Modern facilities . Bedding to die for ! Lovely welcome pack and plenty of local information available Would have liked a gate on the veranda so we could have left pup out more safely but perhaps this is the intention to keep it smelling nice and fresh
