Rooms were described as clean and tidy, indicating a high level of cleanliness throughout the property.
The lodge's secluded spot with spectacular sea views and proximity to wildlife is highly appreciated, making the location excellent for nature lovers.
While the lodge offers a cosy atmosphere, issues with midges indoors and some windows not closing tightly have affected the comfort level for some guests.
The lodge is well-equipped with necessary amenities like a washing machine and tumble dryer. However, some maintenance issues with blinds and double glazing, as well as the absence of a vacuum for guests, have been noted.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so this category cannot be scored.

This freshly converted cabin has been made from a luxury caravan with full double glazing and central heating and a gas fire. It has a special secluded situation in a wooded hill, surrounded by moss covered rocks and a seasonal array of wildflowers, while still having an extensive view over the sea and islands of the Firth of Forth and Sound of Jura. Siskin has a ranch style living/dining/kitchen area with TV and two sofas. There is one generous double or twin bedroom and a good sized bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and toilet as well as a separate toilet compartment. There is a large store with vacuum, iron and board and adjacent to the front door a laundry with washing machine, tumble dryer and a small sink. It is a good place for wet clothes too. There is a large timber deck with outside furniture and a BBQ.
Siskin is situated about half a mile from Lunga House and the Estate Office along a fairly level and easily driven private track. There is a gate into the wood just before the cabin, but this is only closed for the occasional movement of farm animals. The track continues for nearly a mile but serves only one ancient farmhouse but from then on, there is only wild and beautiful coast and countryside for miles. Find hill forts and rock carvings and a long walk to a chain of hill lochs where fishing for brown and Loch Leven trout can be found. There are two other cabins in the wood, neither visible and only occasionally occupied.
The local area is mostly grazing for horses which makes good walking for folk with dogs Parking for at least two cars is available beside the cabin and more visitor parking can be found at the entrance gate where a small level patch of grass can be mown on request for a tent for children. You can book riding at the nearby stables and enjoy the most wonderful boat trips to the Inner Isles from Craobh Haven close-by, they really should not be missed!
There are busy yachting pubs at Craobh Haven and Ardfern which serve excellent food but require booking, especially at week-ends. It is only 4 miles to the famous Arduaine Gardens and adjacent hotel, and the area has a host of historic attractions and several good restaurants. The exceptional number of side roads and little villages to explore, the museum at Kilmartin ,ruined castles, the Crinan Canal all make opportunities for adventure. Oban, half an hour away has all the shopping anyone could want as well as local seafood and ferries to the Isles. Beach 1 mile. Pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
Siskin Lodge (ref UK39664) can be booked together with Catkin Lodge (ref UK39646) and Teasel Lodge (ref UK39647) to accommodate up to 14 guests.
The water is from a spring, well or borehole, and not a mains supply.

There are steps or steep slopes in the garden.
There are steps to the property.

Beautifully equipped lodge for two with the most wonderful views from every room and the veranda. Everything we needed was there, including a washer machine and tumble dryer. Its a little isolated, which we loved but it means there are no restaurants near by. We did a boat trip from Craobh Marina ( a mile from the Lodge) and saw swa eagles, seals and dolphins.

First of all the area Mid-Argyll is very lovely and we do recommend (so 'location' an 'excellent'). But we are not that enthusiastic about Siskin Lodge/Cabin. Rooms inside were clean and tidy. But the description of Siskin Lodge/Cabin says fresly converted, but Venetian blinds were crooked and there was condensation in the double glazing which meant that you could not see outside properly from some windows. Spectaculair sea views? Yes, but only outside. And with not all windows closing very tight in de living room we got the midges also inside (so 'comfort' a 'bad'). That's why with the lovely weather we had we stayed away from the cabin all day. It said there is an easily driven track but there are such huge holes that you have to drive more gently than gently. The area Mid-Argyll is very lovely and we do recommend, but Siskin Lodge/cabin not.

Great value break in beautiful natural surroundings. Huge windows made it feel like you are living in the trees. Red squirrels, birds and wild flowers are all around. Zero road noise. Spacious but cosy. Could have done with a vacuum for guests to use.
