Snaptrip says

Barn Cottage in Saltburn-by-the-Sea receives high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and the convenience of local pubs and scenic walks. The property is described as a home from home, with a welcoming conservatory and a peaceful village setting. While most reviews are glowing, a few guests noted minor issues with maintenance and noise.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property is consistently described as spotless and very clean, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. A single mention of stained bedding suggests a slight deduction, but overall, the cleanliness is exemplary.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to coastal paths, local pubs, and scenic villages. It serves as a great base for exploring the North Yorkshire coast and moors. A few guests mentioned noise from nearby campsite traffic, which slightly impacts the score.

Guests find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. There is a single mention of uncomfortable beds and pillows, but this seems to be an isolated view.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches. However, there are comments about ongoing issues with a conservatory lock and a missing valve cover, suggesting room for improvement in maintenance.

The owner's thoughtfulness is evident through welcome packs and quick communication. While gifts are mentioned and appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, while delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

This attractive, semi-detached stone barn conversion is quietly tucked away in the bustling village of Hinderwell, 9 miles north of Whitby. Well maintained and comfortably furnished, the cottage is ideal for families and friends wishing to enjoy the beautiful mix of moorland and coast, in this area of the country. Downstairs, the modern galley-style kitchen leads into a light and spacious sitting room, whilst adjoining this is a superb, heated, south-facing conservatory, with exposed stone walls and views over the hills. Upstairs are three pretty bedrooms, providing warm and welcoming accommodation. Outside the cottage is an enclosed, walled patio, which attracts the afternoon and evening sun - a peaceful spot in which to sit with a glass of wine, after a busy day on the beach! Two minutes' walk from the property brings you to the excellent amenities of the village, including a good butchers, a newsagents, two pubs, a bistro and a hairdressers, whilst the pretty cove and beach at Runswick Bay is a pleasant one-mile walk away and this beach has taken the top spot in The Times' 50 best beaches for 2020. Enjoy a bracing clifftop walk on the Cleveland Way or visit the old smuggling village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and tiny cottages tumbling towards the harbour. With rock pools and caves to discover, and fossils to collect, there is much enjoyment for all the family. There are a number of golf courses in close proximity to the cottage and with the stunning scenery of the North York Moors close by and the popular seaside towns of Whitby and Saltburn a short drive away, this well-located cottage makes an excellent holiday home and a superb base for walkers and cyclists.

Hinderwell is a small, lively village close to the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay. Hinderwell was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Hildrewell, a derivation of Hilda's Well, named for the Abbess of Whitby who was travelling through the parish in a drought and was asked to intercede. Her prayers were answered when a spring appeared near the sight of the present Parish Church, and this spring has continued to flow from the hillside to this day. The village is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful countryside, and walks, cycle ways, gliding, horse riding and fishing are all well catered for in the area. Whitby is seven miles away and the town has a rich and varied heritage waiting to be discovered. This is a fabulous holiday base.

It was everything we hoped it would be, and more. I cannot fault anything. It had everything we needed, and some things we didn't know we needed. It was super clean. Communication from the property owner was spot on. Location is fantastic. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.

It was very well equipped with everything you need for a good holiday. The sitting room was very cosy and I loved the conservatory which went right across the back of the house. Beds were comfortable as we're the sofas downstairs. Good off road parking for one car. The pub just across the road is worth a visit, or two.
