About this property

Having recently undergone a programme of refurbishment ready for the 2021 season, West End House is a cosy two bedroom town house in the heart of Whitby, a short 5 minute stroll to the picturesque harbour, shops and fantastic restaurants.

This welcoming property is perfectly situated to discover Yorkshire’s most beloved seaside resort.

Set over three floors, its comfortable accommodation is ideal for families or couples who love having everything on their doorstep. It has the added benefit of an enclosed courtyard with furniture and is also pet-friendly.

The property comprises a ground floor kitchen with dining area. Gather together around the scrubbed pine table for home cooked fare or bring home fish and chips after a day at the beach – it’s your holidays, you deserve a rest! The kitchen leads to an enclosed courtyard, a lovely spot for your morning cuppa.

Off the courtyard, there is a utility room that provides storage, plus a useful washing machine and tumble dryer – handy for a family beach holiday.

Put your feet up and relax in the homely sitting room, there’s a TV/DVD, plus a real flame effect gas fire to bring warmth and comfort after a bracing coastal walk.

When it’s time for bed, head upstairs to the first floor where you’ll find a tastefully decorated king-size double bedroom with plenty of storage and a dressing table. This floor also has the house bathroom with shower, basin and WC.

Children, in particular, will be delighted with the charming second floor twin nestled into the eaves – great for star-gazing. The décor is simple but pretty, with a seaside theme, plus there are bedside lamps to ensure there’s always a story before light’s out.

Outside is an enclosed courtyard with table and chairs for enjoying breakfast or drinks outside.

The sandy beach at Whitby has been much-loved for generations, why not try boogie-boarding or stretch your legs on a family walk to Sandsend when the tide is out, a very achievable 3 miles. Kids will enjoy crabbing in the harbour or searching for fossils, there are also fun boat trips which depart daily from the harbour. Take up the challenge of the famous ‘199 steps’ to St Mary’s Church and visit Whitby’s iconic Abbey, an inspirational landmark for Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’.

Another great experience not to be missed is the heritage steam train which runs from Whitby to Grosmont and Goathland. It’s a unique way of seeing the stunning North York Moors. The beloved seaside resort of Scarborough is also nearby (30 mins’ drive); Peasholm Park and miniature railway there are sure to delight the young at heart.

There is so much to see and do in beautiful Whitby, and West End House is right at the very heart of it all – that means more time spent making memories together.

The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

Great position Quiet Whitby fantastic particularly out of season Parking is always a challenge but totally understandable We will be back

The only MINOR issue is the door in the picture is the back door inside a locked gate which you are unable to see when you arrive. HOWVER reading the email directions fully, allows you to find the property entrance. Parking was not a real issue as we used St Hildas Car park less than 2 minutes away. Permits for on street W zones was provided but not used.

Nice outside yard area for a coffee first thing, and set in a quiet area. Close to the main centre and easily accessible. Managed to get parked outside the door with the W scratch cards provided. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
