A holiday in Sleights can be spent either at the beach or in the countryside. It is located just 4 miles from the beautiful Yorkshire coast and on the edge of the dramatic North Yorkshire moors country, which is dotted with charming villages and breath-taking scenery and is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists. Despite its relative tranquilly, the village of Sleights is home to a variety of businesses, including a pub, fish and chip shop, antique shop, butcher's, bakery, hair salon, and Post Office located within a Spar convenience store. There is regular public transportation to and from the nearby port of Whitby, and the North Yorkshire Steam Railway terminus is only a few minutes away via car. Whitby, located at the estuary of the River Esk, is a great base from which to explore this scenic region of Yorkshire. The town is full of charm, from its winding streets and hidden alleys to its picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches, and the abbey, which can be accessed via the 199 steps for which it is known.
