Guests say

The Signal House in Whitby is highly praised for its excellent location, being just a short walk from the town centre and offering the unique experience of watching steam trains pass by. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, parking for two cars, and well-equipped kitchen. Many found the property clean and comfortable, ideal for families and dog owners. Some minor issues were noted, such as occasional cleaning lapses, maintenance niggles, and a desire for a washing machine. Overall, guests enjoyed their stays and would recommend the property, with positives far outweighing the negatives.

Most guests found the property clean and tidy, though several mentioned dust, cobwebs, and occasional missed cleaning (e.g., previous guests' items, stained carpets, musty smells). These issues were not universal but occurred often enough to be noted.

The location is consistently described as fantastic, with easy access to Whitby town centre, the beach, and local attractions. The proximity to the railway and the ability to watch steam trains are frequently highlighted as unique benefits.

Guests generally found the house comfortable, with positive comments on beds, bedding, and spaciousness. Some noted issues with uncomfortable beds, noisy floorboards, and narrow stairs, but these were less frequent.

The property is well-equipped, with ample kitchenware and parking. Guests appreciated improvements like extra patio furniture and a larger freezer. Some maintenance issues (e.g., shower pressure, door locks, patio weeds) and the lack of a washing machine were mentioned.

Several guests mentioned thoughtful touches such as milk, biscuits, and coffee pods on arrival, though these are not guaranteed. Some guests noted the absence of a welcome pack on their visit.

The signal house is in a great location ,an easy level walk to the town and beach ,it's lovely having the steam trains pass by so close to the house .The bedrooms are lovely with nice bedding and plenty of space ,downstairs is not so good ,the sofas are a little tired, there are no coffee tables and the dining room table is cramped .The lounge smelt horribly musty when we arrived ,I managed to track this down to a mop in the cupboard which smelt really unpleasant .There was no welcome pack at all ,not even milk in the fridge which was disappointing .Overall it's a good house in a great location but it needs some tlc to improve it.
