Snaptrip says

Stewart House in Whitby receives high praise for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and central location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and the property's character. While parking can be challenging, the provision of parking permits is noted. The thoughtful touches by the hosts, including welcome surprises, are warmly mentioned, contributing to the property's charm and appeal for large groups and family gatherings.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property is consistently described as spotless and super clean, with only a minor mention of some sticky spots which does not detract significantly from the overall high standards maintained.

The central location is highly valued for its proximity to local shops, the beach, and attractions. Parking is noted as an issue, but the availability of parking permits and alternative solutions are appreciated.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the house homely, with plenty of space for large groups. A few mentions of creaky beds do not significantly impact the overall comfort experienced.

The property is well-equipped with quality kitchen appliances, comfortable furniture, and sufficient bathrooms. Some guests suggested additional kitchen supplies and logs for the burner, indicating room for improvement.

The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, including welcome packs and surprises for both humans and dogs. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it is politely noted that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Situated just off the main street in Whitby, lies this magnificent Grade II listed Georgian townhouse, Stewart House. Built in 1760, this townhouse has been lovingly restored and enhanced by the owners, offering a sumptuous base with seven bedrooms over three floors, perfect for those seeking a spectacular Whitby base. The design of the property is arranged in two sections with separate staircases, perfect for two families or groups of friends. Enter through the impressive front door, leading into the magnificent hallway with part panelled walls and a period staircase. Two period sitting rooms are positioned opposite each other, finished with twin sash windows with original window shutters, and one boasting a coal effect gas fire and one with log burner, ideal for those cold winter nights. Move into the kitchen, amply-equipped with a range of modern appliances, including a NEFF double electric oven and Siemens 900mm hob, sure to inspire some home-cooking. Serve hearty home-cooked meals in the dining room, which also serves as a delightful seating area where patio doors provide access to the courtyard. Moving through the property and up the first staircase, there are two superb bedrooms, including a super-king-size and king-size room, oozing Georgian character and luxurious en-suite shower rooms, while continuing to the second floor leads to a beautifully finished twin room with a dedicated shower room. Climb the second staircase to reveal the second portion of the property; on the first floor lies two double rooms, finished with a traditional décor and served by a modern bathroom, while the second floor hosts two inviting single rooms, enhanced with original, upholstered Georgian beds. Outside, the townhouse hosts an enclosed courtyard with furniture, perfect for stepping out to enjoy your morning coffee or set the table for some alfresco dining. Whether you wish to relax or sunbathe, or try your hand at a range of watersports, Whitby Beach is just a short stroll away and offers something for the whole family. Those history buffs will appreciate the attractions of the town, including Whitby Museum and Whitby Abbey, and the famous 199 Steps all being within walking distance from the doorstep of the abode. Spot the iconic Whalebone Arch as you tuck into a tasty portion of fish and chips, or head to the village of Robin Hood’s Bay to see the National Trust owned Old Coastguard Station and Robin Hood’s Bay Museum. Venture you way down the coast, you will reach the charming town of Filey, boasting yet another attractive beach, the Filey Maze and the delightful Glen Gardens, ideal for a relaxing day out. Very spacious and warm . On the whale bone side of Whitby . Great enclosed courtyard for dog . Close to everything you need and great bakers 1 minute away . Would highly recommend

The house is amazing and has everything you could possibly need. The owners have thought of everything and are really helpful and accommodating when answering queries. The house is in a perfect location, 5 min walk from the sea and the centre of Whitby. It has a parking space at the back and the owner leaves parking permits for other cars that you have which you can then park within certain zones. The house is tastefully decorated and we have joked that if we win the lottery we would love to buy it. There is a fabulous bakery just a stones throw away and pubs , shops etc are all just a short stroll away. Highly recommended

For some reason first floor bedroom rads were not working whilst all others were…and yes they were turned to the highest level. But the house was very clean and comfortable with all the cooking facilities available.we all had a great holiday break
