Visit England Gold Award property.. This delightful first floor apartment enjoys sea views over West Cliff in a renovated Georgian mansion house. It is equipped with a contemporary fitted kitchen, and unique additions such as a retro arcade machine and electric wood burner for those cold winter nights. The apartment is very near Whitby Pavillion and three miles of beautiful, sandy beach stretching to picturesque Sandsend. In addition to this, it is only a 5-minute walk into Whitby with its many bars, restaurants and attractions like Whitby Abbey and the harbour for boat trips. It is also in easy reach of Runswick Bay, and the quaint smuggler’s coves of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes. Take the steam train across the North York Moors through ’Heartbeat’ country to Pickering. Fishing and golf can be found nearby.

We are a family of 4, with kids aged 9 and 11 who shared the double bedroom. We found the apartment to be very clean, tidy, and well maintained. We were welcomed with a cake/biscuits, a bottle of prosecco, and a call from the owner who checked we'd arrived safely and settled in ok. The kitchen was well equipped; there was nothing missing that we desperately needed, though we only just managed to get a week's worth of groceries in the small fridge/ice box. The Internet was reliable and the children enjoyed playing the retro games console. He smart tv had Netflix, BBC iplayer, etc. The temperature was well maintained over the week and there was no sound from the apartments above and below. We were not disturbed by any noise from outside either. The beds were comfortable and we slept well once we'd gotten used to the alarm system which faintly buzzes constantly in the hall and is unnoticeable by day, but is a little annoying at night. We could see numerous attempts with wedges of cardboard had been made to dampen the vibrations by previous guests, but unsuccessfully; still, I'd pretty much stopped noticing it by the 3rd night and the kids didn't mention it at all. There was plenty of storage for clothes and we freed up a shelf for groceries by rearranging the games cupboard in the kitchen. There's is a view of the sea from the lounge and we saw the pleasure cruisers passing regularly. The location was great and we walked everywhere in Whitby from the apartment; the museum, the Abbey, the lighthouses, cafes, restaurants, etc. The Crescent, Pavilion, whale bones, and Bram Stokers bench are minutes away. We also had day trips to Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes, Kirkleatham... Our only real issue was with parking, and although a parking pass was provided for the week, there were often no spaces to park in from Friday and over the weekend, and after circling the local streets along with many others, we ended up having to pay to use the nearby 24 hour West Cliff Park. We would visit again, but if you're on a tight budget you may want to factor in paying for parking which was £12.10 for 24 hours.

Excellent location Quiet but minutes from shops and beach Lovely flat cosy and warm with lots of light One small point to consider is the mattress in the main bedroom is at the softer end of the spectrum Would definitely recommend!!
