Nestled in the North York Moors National Park in the charming village of Glaisdale in Whitby, is this fantastic four-bedroom cottage, Hilrise. Enjoying beautiful countryside views and a central location, Hillrise is a superb dwelling for a group or family of seven plus two canine companions to explore the wonders of North Yorkshire. Park up outside the property where you will be greeted by a neat, small garden before entering the large hall to discard any coats and shoes after your journey. Be welcomed into the spacious sitting room, where you can look forward to curling up in front of your favourite film on the TV as the woodburning stove crackles nearby. As stomach’s begin to rumble, make your way through to the kitchen where you can rustle up flavourful meals with the help the induction hob, oven and microwave, as well as a dishwasher and washing machine for keeping your space tidy. Settle down around the dining table as you tuck-in to a hearty meal in the glow of the woodburning stove. If the weather is nice, why not treat your guests to a barbecue out in the private yard where you can soak up the remainder of the day’s sunshine. As your eyes grow heavy, climb the stairs to the first floor where you can prepare for bed with an indulgent soak in the roll top bath or a refreshing rinse in the shower, before choosing from one of four bedrooms to catch your rest in, a double, a second-floor double, a second-floor twin and a single, each well-presented and with plenty of storage. There are plenty of walks to choose from along the majetic River Esk, along with canoeing and fishing. For entertainment, choose the must-visit Esk Valley Theatre where you can catch a live performance, ensuring a memorable evening! For a day at the beach, head to Runswick Bay where you can beachcombe the golden sands, go fossil hunting, paddle the clear waters and create long-lasting memories. Sandend beach hosts a beautiful long beach where you can walk for miles. Whitby also has a splendid beach to explore, and the little ones will enjoy a donkey ride here, or tuck-in to fresh fish and chips as you watch the world go by. Keen putters will not be disappointed with Whitby’s excellent golf club, boasting a clifftop location with fabulous sea views. Budding historians will marvel at the Gothic Whitby Abbey, said to be the inspiration behind Bram Stokers creation, Dracula. There is also the Dracula Experience, where you can step into the famous vampires’ shoes and visit key areas within the town. Further afield is Pickering, here you can explore the 13th-century English Heritage site of Pickering Castle, as well as hop aboard a vintage steam train at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a superb way to see all the sights in the national park. Glaisdale is a picturesque village nestled in the Esk Valley, bordering the North York Moors National Park. One good butcher (famous for his pork pies) and one hotel/pub with restaurant can be found in the village. A short drive will take you to Whitby and the coast, while smaller moorland communities like Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham along with the market town of Pickering can also be visited on day trips. Saltburn by the Sea, a lovely Victorian coastal village, is a great option for those looking for a more sedate experience.
