What an amazing house set in a lovely location with wonderful views. This house has so many wow factors. We were a family of seven made up of three generations. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space if needed. The teenagers absolutely loved the lower ground floor with the pool table and cinema room, whilst the adults enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. The house was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The bedrooms were a good size, with two of them ensuite. The main bathroom was huge with a super large bath and separate shower. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could possibly need to cater for eight people. We probably didn't make the best use of it as we either ate out or had takeaways but if you wanted to cook meals the facilities on offer were over and above what you would expect. We caught the bus into Whitby one day. The walk to the bus stop at Sleights Bridge was about 15/20 minutes, all downhill. However, we didn't fancy walking back up the hill so got a taxi back later that night, plus I think the buses may stop running early evening. There are plenty of taxis in Whitby and the cost was between £9/£10. Parking in Whitby and the surrounding area isn't cheap but that is probably on a par with most popular places. We did all the usual tourist attractions, the 199 steps to the Abbey, boat trip etc. Plenty of nice places to eat in Whitby, we particularly liked Sanders Yard Bistro for lunch and Trenchers Restaurant for fish and chips. We visited Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay whilst there and would recommend but both have a steep walk to the beach so would not suit anyone with mobility issues. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely choose to stay at Grande View again if travelling to that area.
