Fishermans Warehouse in Whitby is praised for its stunning harbour views, immaculate interiors, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the property's central location, comfortable furnishings, and the thoughtful welcome pack filled with local goodies. While some guests mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance, particularly in outdoor areas, the majority of reviews reflect a positive experience, with many guests eager to return.
Cleanliness receives mixed reviews, with several guests finding the property immaculate and well-maintained, while others report issues with dust, cobwebs, and outdoor areas needing attention. The inconsistency in cleanliness has led to a slightly above average score.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to local attractions, shops, and the beach, with guests appreciating the short walks and central position in Whitby. The stunning views from the property also contribute to the high score.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the property cosy and the beds comfortable. Some guests mention issues with creaking floorboards and soft furniture, but overall, the property is seen as a comfortable stay.
Facilities are appreciated for being well-equipped and modern, with a special mention of the kitchen and bathrooms. However, some guests report maintenance issues such as difficult parking, noisy kitchen floorboards, and problems with outdoor furniture, leading to a good but not excellent score.
The thoughtfulness of the hosts is evident in the welcome packs provided, which guests find delightful. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, the score reflects the positive mentions without setting an expectation of guaranteed gifts.
Fisherman’s Warehouse is an immaculate red brick-built cottage in the heart of Whitby. Leave the car behind and explore this fabulous seaside town on foot – it is so close to the beach, harbour, shops and restaurants – bustling Whitby has an old world charm all of its own.
Airy, spacious and comfortable, the cottage has a private terrace with superb views of the harbour, Whitby Abbey and out to sea. It is a gem of a place for families who like everything on their doorstep, yet tucked away in a quiet location.
Step inside the entrance porch to find an elegant reception hall, flagged in Yorkshire stone. This area is illuminated at night with low level blue lights.
A few steps up from the reception hall leads to a light and airy open plan living space, with comfortable sitting and dining areas. Who can be first to “see the sea”? There is a wonderful view from this floor.
The well-equipped kitchen is sparkling clean, with ample work surfaces and a dishwasher. A great addition to this property is the ground floor shower room, perfect for a nice hot shower after sandy days at the beach. Families will appreciate the utility room with a washing machine and dryer.
Both bedrooms – one double, the other twin – are located on the lower ground floor, with patio doors to the private enclosed terrace outside. How lovely to be able to feel the sunshine on your face, hear the gulls and breathe in fresh sea air when you step out of bed.
The house bathroom, beautifully tiled with a modern bath, shower over, basin and WC.
To end the day, why not indulge in a romantic nightcap on the terrace – from here you can see Whitby’s iconic Abbey, floodlit in the evening.
For those who like a challenge, Whitby’s famous 199 steps are a must – the views from St Mary’s church and the Abbey are well worth the climb. Little ones are sure to love the golden sandy beach; or let them try their hand at crabbing in the harbour using a simple weighted line, it’s an experience to treasure, just don’t forget to put back what you catch! Fans of seafood and fresh fish and chips are spoilt for choice in Whitby’s many award-winning restaurants.
Walkers and cyclists should seek out the Cinder Track route from Whitby station to Robin Hood’s Bay and onto Scarborough, it follows the old railway line. For a magical 2-mile woodland walk on the North York Moors, try May Beck and Falling Foss, there’s a lovely café half way around the circular walk.
Fisherman’s Cottage has been finished to a high standard and guests will be pleased to return here after days spent exploring this wonderful part of England.

It is well placed being very central but not near any noisy venues etc. making it quiet and peaceful accommodation. The cottage was really well equipped and very clean and cosy. Being an upside down cottage the view from the living room window was absolutely stunning and the cottage is furnished to make the best of it. The little balcony would be an excellent place to sit and look out at the view with a drink in hand (just not in November!). Overall we would highly recommend this cottage.

Location is ideal, only 2-3 mins walk from the harbour. We will be coming back again.
