About this property

Located in the Esk Valley, this generous four bedroom house is a short 1.5 mile drive from Whitby town centre. Families and small groups staying at Dovecote Cottage can expect easy access to Yorkshire’s stunning coastline from this tranquil, secluded base. Its dramatic backdrop of open countryside and ample garden with large terrace stimulate the senses whatever the season - a wonderful retreat!

On the ground floor is a spacious beamed sitting room with a wood burning-style gas stove and views of the garden. A large dining room provides additional comfortable seating and a table and chairs for sociable dining. The smart kitchen with granite worktops and range cooker has a further table and chairs – sit here for an unhurried morning cuppa as you discuss the day’s plans. There is even a wine fridge, so that you need never run short of a refreshingly chilled glass of Prosecco! Utility and downstairs cloakroom complete the ground floor.

Moving upstairs, there are two lovely double bedrooms with garden views – one of which boasts an en-suite shower with a luxurious double shower cubicle, basin and WC. There is a twin bedroom, single bedroom and a large family bathroom with chrome mixer shower, separate double shower cubicle, basin and WC. Rest a while in the seating that’s provided on the wide landing – a very handy spot from which to check that the children are sound asleep!

Outside is a large stone paved terrace, lawned gardens with shrub borders, a garden shed and further side patio. There is private parking for several cars.

Hop in the car and within a few minutes you can be milling around beautiful Whitby: home to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, outstanding fish and chips, Captain Cook Museum, and some breathtaking coastal walks.

Head inland to discover the beautiful North York Moors. A heritage steam locomotive ride from Whitby to Grosmont, ‘Heartbeat’ country, is not to be missed.

This delightful house is perfectly situated to enjoy North Yorkshire’s rural splendour of moors and coastline.

The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.
