About this property

A delightful four bedroom cottage, with large private garden, in the idyllic village of Sleights, just two miles from the coast/Whitby.

Families and couples seeking a tranquil rural location – nestled in the Esk Valley, so close to both Moors and coast – will be delighted with this spacious and inviting cottage.

Guests will love its gorgeous rustic features, including traditional wooden beams, woodburning stove, exposed brickwork and wooden floors. A cosy ‘home from home’ in an idyllic setting. The stylish kitchen with breakfast bar and two external terraces add a touch of luxury – what could be nicer than spending time together in lovely surroundings.

The kitchen is situated on the ground floor and comes with all the mod cons you’d expect – plus a delightful range cooker, adding warmth, character, and an opportunity to create delicious meals from local produce (Sleights boasts a traditional butchers, bakers and grocers!). There’s a breakfast bar, plus a separate dining room with table and chairs to seat six people overlooking the garden.

After a busy day exploring, put your feet up on one of the comfortable settees in the sitting room – the garden views are pleasant, and the woodburning stove provides a comforting glow in the cooler months. There are some lovely decorative touches, with accents of cherry red. There’s also a large flat screen TV and DVD for your entertainment.

Make your way upstairs and discover four charming bedrooms – all with wooden flooring, to give a lovely natural feel. Choose from either of the two double bedrooms (one is ensuite with WC and sink), a twin bedroom and a beamed single bedroom. The family bathroom has a bath, shower over, basin and WC.

One of the lovely features of this property is its enclosed lawned garden and two terraces. It’s easy to imagine an impromptu glass of your favourite fizz, with nothing to disturb you but the sound of birdsong.

Set in the charming village of Sleights, which boasts two inns, traditional butchers, bakers, grocers, hairdressers, antiques emporium, church and fish and chip shop, the coast is a few minutes’ drive plus there is a small railway station c. 500 yards away.

The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.
