Snaptrip says

47 Baxtergate is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in Whitby, appreciated for its central location and warmth. Guests have enjoyed the property's size and the festive decorations provided for a Christmas break. While some guests found the property to be a comfortable base for their stay, others noted issues with noise from the street and pub-goers at night.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Several reviews mention concerns with cleanliness, including dirty entrances, unpleasant odours, and cobwebs. However, some guests found the property to be clean, leading to a below-average score.

The location is highly praised for being central and convenient, with easy access to local amenities. The proximity to pubs and shops is a recurring positive point, although the associated noise at night has been a drawback for some.

Comfort receives mixed reviews. Guests have mentioned warm central heating and ample space, but there are several complaints about uncomfortable mattresses and noise issues, resulting in an average score.

Facilities are generally good, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and sufficient toilets. However, there are negative comments about the lack of parking, mirrors, and some kitchen equipment, as well as maintenance issues like windows not opening and problems with the oven.

There is a single mention of the property being decorated for Christmas, which suggests thoughtfulness. However, as this is an isolated comment and there's no consistent evidence of thoughtful gestures, it's not possible to provide a fair score.

However we found that the house was very under-resourced with equipment. Considering that the property sleeps 8 people, there were only 4 wine glasses and 4 egg cups and not enough mugs or table glasses for a group of 8. There were a large number of champagne glasses but sadly these are not overly practical for everyday use. The pans were all small and hard to fit in enough food for 8 people and there were no baking dishes which meant we had to buy one over the weekend to cook what we needed to. There was no salt and pepper in the property or tea or coffee. It was strange that there were no bedside lights or bedside tables so that you couldn't read in bed easily. One of the bathroom showers had a leak which made it hard to use. The use of automatic lighting in the corridors made it feel like student accommodation and overall the house felt quite sterile - there were no pictures on the wall anywhere. Whilst these might seem like small points, they made the accommodation feel basic. We have stayed in many rented houses during our lifetime and sadly, Baxtergate was a lower quality than most. Overall, whilst the location is great I would hesitate to recommend Baxtergate as a comfortable house to stay in.

Perfect location. Would stay there again. Ideal for big families with babies and dogs!

Shame we had to pay for parking at £10 per day. House is well maintained and everything you need for a great stay. Missed not having a bath as both bathrooms are shower only. Children enjoyed the top floor living space.
