Spend the day exploring the quaint cobbled streets and alleyways or enjoy invigorating cliff top walks along the numerous footpaths in the area. Nearby Whitby is well worth visiting, with its famous abbey, long sandy beaches, excellent restaurants, quirky cafes and independent shops. The seaside village of Staithes is surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides and there is a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. Staithes has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliffside to the sea's edge. A superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, Scarborough and the moorland villages.
