About this property

Filey 3 miles. This charming, detached studio cottage is situated behind the owner's property, in the village of Lebberston. This is an ideal cottage for a break in a quiet and secluded spot, with many walks available in the surrounding countryside. Surprisingly spacious, with high apex beamed ceilings, this unique property is an open plan, split-level studio, beautifully decorated to provide a lovely, romantic retreat for couples. With luxurious underfloor heating throughout, the cottage provides warm and welcoming accommodation with a cosy woodburner in the sitting room together with a comfortable brass and wrought iron bed. There are several steps which lead up to the modern kitchen and dining area and from the kitchen, a stable door leads out onto an enclosed walled courtyard. A very sheltered spot, it is a great place in which to sit and relax and look out for the regular visiting barn owl. Two miles away is the beautiful beach of Cayton Bay. The delightful seaside town of Filey is a few minutes’ drive from the cottage and has a variety of quaint tea rooms, restaurants and independent shops. Enjoy a stroll along the promenade with its brightly painted beach huts, ornamental gardens and cafes, or wander down to the coble landing, with its fishing boats and seafood stalls. Take a brisk and invigorating walk on the Cleveland Way, which is a 109 mile footpath across the moors and along the coast of the North York Moors, with many interesting sites and historical buildings to enjoy on the way. Enjoy a walk in the nearby Flamborough Headlands and the Bempton RSPB Reserve, while the surrounding areas also have much to offer, including the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds, ever popular Scarborough and the historic City of York. A lovely cottage for a memorable holiday.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set affront the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg to the north with its shallow rockpools. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths, and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, and delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here, though there were a couple of things that need attention. Main settee is very uncomfortable ( we swapped it over for the 2nd settee ) tv remote was temperamental, bathroom sink plug need attention, enclosed courtyard very scruffy. Underfloor heating + log burner is a bonus. Good boot sale very close. Despite those little niggles we would book again.

Really liked the ‘back to nature’ feel of the farm!

Only 1 criticism, court yard could do with some extra lighting and a few of the plants removed, can be a bit dangerous at night. Will be booking again.
