This property is a traditional, stone-built Yorkshire cottage which offers sleeping accommodation for groups of up to four people. Organised in an 'upside-down' fashion, the bedrooms are on the ground floor, whilst the living accommodation is upstairs, benefiting from spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. For the summer months there is a walled garden to the rear of the property, allowing you to sit and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down. In the winter, you can still watch the sunset from the sitting room, warmed by the gas central heating and the flame-effect fire.

Around and About

Set in the breathtaking and beautiful location of the Upper Esk Valley in the North Yorkshire Moors, Castleton is the main village in the area and a centre for walking, bird watching, shooting and many other pursuits. There is a bowling green adjacent to the Downe Arms public house (which is dog and walker friendly and has won accolades for its real ales) and a cricket pitch and children's play area close to the River Esk. There are many footpaths and bridle ways - all providing superb views of the surrounding countryside. Castleton is a short walk from the North York Moors Danby Visitors centre from where a number of walks start and local arts and crafts events held. Castleton is a thriving community which has ample provision for visitors and boasts, several shops, public houses, tea rooms, a post office, garage and a bank. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park Centre is also nearby and it has a train station on the Middlesbrough to Whitby line.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
