About these Holiday Cottages

Situated in Gillamoor near Kirkbymoorside, Surprise View Cottage and Field Barn Cottage each sleep up to four people. They're pet-friendly self-catering holiday properties, suitable for families, and they feature all you need for a holiday or short break. We've included free WiFi, cots are available for children and you'll enjoy stunning scenery.

Inside

Surprise View - an 'upside down' cottage with the high beamed lounge and spacious fitted kitchen / dining area on the first floor. The facilities include a woodburning stove, flatscreen TV DVD and CD radio, full sized electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Field Barn Cottage -  is a cosy cottage with ceiling beams and exposed stone and brickwork.  The lounge has a radio and CD player, flat-screen TV and DVD. The kitchen is complete with a dishwasher and washing machine.  

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

Surprise View - has two ground floor bedrooms comprising a double and a twin both with built-in vanity units and wardrobes. The bathroom has bath suite with toilet and washbasin and powerful shower over the bath.

Field Barn Cottage - has a double and a twin room, they share a bathroom with an over-bath power shower. 

Outside

Surprise View Cottage has a garden with furniture and flower troughs bordering the mill race running along one side, a small balcony looks over a fenced lawned area to fields, woods and the valley of Farndale.   Parking and bike storage

Field Barn Cottage stands in the field up the hill, enjoying panoramic views over fields, woods and the moorland edge. There is garden furniture and bicycle storage.

We're on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and within easy reach of the coastal towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington and Robin Hoods Bay.  Alternatively you can visit the historic city of York and the charming market town of Thirsk. The area is rich with a variety of scenery and topgraphy which gives it an unrivalled appeal to walkers, cyclists and visitors throughout the year.

Directions

Surprise View Cottages are on the southern tip of the North York Moors in the valley bottom between the village of Hutton-le-Hole and Gillamoor, just a short drive from Scarborough, Whitby, York and Thirsk; less than one hour from the major networks of the A1 and M1 and easily accessed from the A64 and the A170. Directions:- From Hutton-le-Hole, take the road to the left signposted Gillamoor, follow the road over the moor then down to the bridge over the river and farm gate signposted Lowna; for Surprise View Cottage turn right down the short drive and the cottage faces you almost immediately after Lowna Farmhouse. For Field Barn Cottage carry on approximately 50 yds beyond the farm gate and Field Barn gateway is on your right. From Kirkbymoorside, travel North to Gillamoor, turn right in Gillamoor, past the church and down the hill. Keep straight on the road in the direction of Hutton-le-Hole and approximately 60 yards before the bridge over the river you will see the gate leading in to Field Barn Cottage on the left. For Surprise View Cottage and Lowna Farmhouse carry on down the hill about 50 yds and turn left down the farm drive signposted Lowna.
