When you are not resting in the courtyard outside, wander into the characterful village of Kirkbymoorside where you will find a variety of tea rooms, restaurants and antique shops, along with a market day on a Wednesday. The walking routes and scenic delights of the National Park are close by, as are the picturesque villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham. The market town of Kirkbymoorside lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, in between the towns of Helmsley and Pickering. Visitors will find a variety of shops from tea rooms, pubs and restaurants to antique shops, while there is a market day on Wednesday. Further afield, Pickering is the base of the North York Moors Steam Railway - a ‘must do’ day out, with Castle Howard, York, Whitby and the Yorkshire Coast in easy driving distance.
