Unfortunately we had such terrible weather we couldn't take advantage of Helmsley itself & spent from Friday to Sunday morning unable to get out because of the storms, so we appreciated the cosy cottage even more. Sunday we had lunch at the black swan which was very nice. Only criticism with the cottage would be it would have been perfect if it had a fire in the lounge

We have visited Helmsley lots of times as my sister lived here and since she moved back South I've been looking for somewhere to stay. This cottage ticked all the boxes. Comfortable, everything you need for self catering and in a perfect position. Within an hour of getting there my young son said, "Mum, you want to live here permanently don't you!!!". One of the best places we have stayed with Sykes.

Close to all the shops and cafes in Helmsley and ideally situated for exploring the rest of North Yorkshire. I enjoyed sitting in the conservatory to read my book while my two year old grandson had a sleep! He loved the garden especially the 'secret' paths he could explore. Very good communication with the owner prior to and during the stay.
