Around and About

Located on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, the pretty little village of Harome make an idyllic place for a holiday. The duck-filled village pond is the heart of the settlement, and surrounding it are a lovely collection of old stone cottages and two excellent inns - one of which sells local produce. Close by is the prestigious market town of Helmsley with a traditional market square. Packed full of hotels, shops and tea-rooms, Helmsley has its own twelfth century castle whilst English Heritage's Rievaulx Abbey is also close by. Not only is this region full of historic properties, it is also an excellent walking area with dramatic moors to explore and hidden dales and villages to discover. Both the region's capital, York, and the famous seaside town of Scarborough are just an hour's drive away.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
