About this property

Rest and relax in this delightful stone-built cottage tucked away in the centre of Askrigg in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. This is an ideal property for couples or solo travellers looking for a peaceful base from which to enjoy the outdoor activities of the Dales. Askrigg village, featured in 'All Creatures Great and Small', affords plenty of walking trails and has a quaint high street with shops and three pubs. To make the most of this beautiful landscape, head to one of the two nearby National Park Visitor Centres at Aysgarth Falls, 5 miles away or in the pretty village of Hawes, 5.5 miles away, home to the famous Wensleydale Creamery. History buffs can enjoy a day at Bolton Castle, less than 10 miles away. Alternatively, for walks and water sports, discover Ryedale and visit Semerwater Lake, only 5 miles away.

Take one small step up through the entrance into this cosy cottage, and you’ll find yourself in an attractive open-plan lounge/kitchen and diner. This welcoming space features exposed wooden ceiling beams throughout, which combine seamlessly with contemporary creature comforts to ensure a memorable stay. The lounge area features a large and comfortable corner sofa, inviting you to unwind after a day exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Enjoy reading or chatting with a drink or watch your favourite programme on the TV. The whitewashed walls create a light, airy feel, while pops of colour in the furnishings and decor add a touch of vibrant energy to this lovely space. The compact kitchen is behind the sitting area and features all the appliances you need to cook up a storm. There is a breakfast bar with stools that face each other, ideal for informal meals or a romantic dinner. With windows in the sitting and kitchen areas, your downstairs living space gets plenty of natural light. Stairs lead up to the first floor, and immediately on the left is a delightful contemporary bathroom which has a jacuzzi bath for relaxing tired muscles after walking in the Yorkshire Dales. In front of you at the top of the stairs is the door to a lovely double bedroom where you can drift off and sleep soundly. There is ample storage with views from the windows over the rooftops towards the rolling countryside.

From the bedroom, there is a door with steps down to the garden. Head outside and you will discover a large, enclosed garden with a lawn and a pretty patio area with seating, making this the ideal spot for a lazy afternoon tea. Alternatively, on fine evenings, fire up the BBQ and enjoy dining alfresco. On-street parking is available throughout the village, on a first come first serve basis.
