Snaptrip says

7 Scarah Bank Cottages is a cosy and well-located property in Harrogate, offering a comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen and a secure garden. It is praised for its cleanliness, homely feel, and suitability as a base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Some guests noted the property could benefit from updates and maintenance, but overall experiences were positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests found it spotless and very clean, while others noted areas that could have been cleaner. The presence of cobwebs and dust in some reviews suggests room for improvement.

The location is generally well-regarded, being close to local attractions and offering good access to the Yorkshire Dales. However, some guests expressed concerns about the busy road and traffic speed, which affected the score slightly.

Guests found the cottage comfortable, with a cosy atmosphere and a comfortable bed. However, comments about dated furnishings and the lack of an upstairs bathroom suggest that comfort could be enhanced.

Facilities like the well-equipped kitchen and secure garden were appreciated, but there were several mentions of maintenance issues such as a weak shower and the need for more powerful heating. Some guests also suggested the addition of Wi-Fi and more consistent kitchenware.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of consideration for guests' experiences.

About this property

Ripley 1 mile. An attractive mid-terrace, stone-built cottage situated in lovely rolling countryside, in the hamlet of Bedlam, just one mile from Ripley and four miles from Harrogate. Warm and inviting, this cottage provides a perfect base for touring this beautiful area. Well presented throughout, there is a cosy sitting room, a modern well-equipped kitchen, a modern shower room with a multi-jet shower, a lovely double bedroom and a dressing room. Outside is a spacious front and rear garden area and patio, which is a delightful spot to sit with a coffee in the sunshine. A short drive away is the ancient market town of Knaresborough, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The town is very popular with visitors to the area as it overlooks the River Nidd and is considered one of the prettiest towns in North Yorkshire. There are many day trips on offer in the area, with some well worth a visit including, The House in the Rock, Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe in England, dating back to 1720, the Courthouse Museum and Mother Shipton's Cave. Guests can enjoy excellent walks by the river, climbing, fishing, cycling, boating or just enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and stunning scenery of this area. A wonderful cottage at any time of year.

Ripley is a small and unspoilt village in Uredale, originally designed and built in the 1830's by Sir William Amcotts Ingilby. The village boasts a lovely castle in the centre (still home to the Ingilby family) where deer graze in the grounds and there are beautiful gardens open to the public which have bridges, waterfalls and a lake. The castle also has a shop and tea-rooms. The centre of Ripley has a large cobbled market place which is overlooked by the Boar's Head - an old coaching inn with an excellent bar, restaurant and bistro. The village also has a store, an ice cream parlour, an art gallery, a butcher's and much more.

Main bedroom wasn’t very appealing second bedroom had 2wardobes and a chair in it ,felt very creepy . The whole place appeared tired and needed some money spent on it . We felt we were unable to stay ,managed to find alternative accommodation elsewhere .had I been the landlord I would have put a bit of heat on to make it welcoming . The landlord also asked me if I could be economical with the heating as it was expensive to run ,☹️

.. A great cottage, that was warm and cosy in a wonderful location (an hour to many great locations and 10 mins to Harrogate, Ripon and Knaresborough), with view for miles, good dogs walks from the doorstep, a safe enclosed rear garden and off road parking. It had all the facilities you would expect in a holiday cottage. OK the shower is not very powerful, but was OK to shower / wash with, but for me this was offset by the homely feel of the place. I will definitely go back if I'm looking to stay in the area

Whilst the cottage was adequate for our needs there is scope for improvement with the shower having very little power and kitchen equipment e.g cutlery and crockery items not being consistent. Also whilst having a slow cooker available is great not having an oven tray for items such as frozen chips and other items was a nuisance. Despite the forgoing comments we did enjoy our two week stay there.
