    About this property

Within the charming village of Threshfield, sat within the wonderful Yorkshire Dales National Park, is this Grade II listed detached cottage, Monks Cottage. Resting within its own grounds behind the Old Hall Inn, a longstanding pub, in the heart of this quaint village, it is suitable for a couple’s break. The history of the property can be traced back to its construction by monks in the 13th century, it is reputedly the oldest habitable building in Upper Wharfdale. Now lovingly renovated to provide beautiful holiday accommodation, the ground floor is set out in an open-plan layout, a great way to enjoy the company of your loved one while you wind down in your own way. Light the woodburning stove, which rests in the inglenook fireplace on a cold evening and relax on the sofa, while your partner begins to prepare the evening meal for a quiet and romantic night in, surrounded by a host of original features including exposed beams, stone flooring and stone walls. Relish in this rustic and traditional environment as you sit at the dining table to eat, afterwards sitting down to plan the rest of your trip. Rest in the king-size bed up in the galleried bedroom on the first floor, with a bathroom located half way up the stairs offering conveniences within this older exterior. Centrally located in this beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, there are superb walks from the doorstep, including a short walk along the river to Linton Falls and the ever popular Grassington with its wide range of shops, pubs and art galleries, as well as the Dickensian Festival, which delights visitors with its traditional Christmas market and entertainment. A beautiful Threshfield holiday cottage, ideal for a romantic break, whatever the time of year.

Threshfield is a small village within the county of Yorkshire, set within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and enjoying a quaint and peaceful atmosphere. Home to a Wharfedale rufc who call The Arena, a small stadium, their stomping ground, as well as the historic pub Old Hall Inn, taking its name from the 14th century hall at the rear which was built by monks. With Grassington being a nearby village within easy walking distance, and other towns and points of interest easily accessed by car, you are within a perfect spot in Threshfield to enjoy the best of the area.

" 30pm which was extremely loud, and there wasn't enough cooking utensils for a none stick pan we had to perches plastic utensils, & and the property wasn't that clean in the cupboards door fronts and cobwebs. & the plug didn't fit in the bath so we couldn't have a bath after a long day of walking. " The very large extractor fan is immediately outside the cottage door. lt is very loud and runs from 07.30am to approx 11.00pm everyday, you cannot leave tbe door open as you get the horrible fatty smells in the cottage. People were constantly going back and forth throught the garden, it was not just the odd time for access but most days, then the gates were left off the latch. We booked this in march before the latest reviews were added from visitors this summer, if those reviews had been there before I booked I would have never booked this place. "

" On arrival there was stale food left in the cupboards from the previous occupants 2 weeks earlier ! Dog poop in garden ! Broken toilet seat. All this was brought to the attention of the manager/owner to be given the opportunity to be rectified which it never was except for a toilet seat replacement 5 days later. Unsightly old broken pots and table in garden area. Overwhelming smell of dogs on the furniture, Inview of the current Covid cleaning procedures I strongly feel that even the basic cleaning regime had not been carried out. In my opinion the rental price of this property does not reflect the standard of what should be expected. Disappointing and would not return. "

" Pub is 20 yards away and good was lovely. Cottage is filled with character and although suitable for only 2 people, there’s plenty of room. Our figs and ourselves loved it "

" 00am-10.00pm. Dark/gloomy more like a monks cave than a cottage. Only subdued lighting. Broken fridge that froze everything in it. Bathroom listed as upstairs on original booking, not really suitable for less able going down 9 steps at night. Bed only about 1ft from the ground - more difficulties. No wardrobe or chair in bedroom. Ceiling so low cannot stand upright. . No upstairs main light switch. Bathroom shaver light not working. No comfortable garden seating. Very varied collection of china, only 2 small cereal bowls, no fruit or salad bowls. No instruction on using the heating. I would like to say that overall we had a very enjoyable holiday. The low recommendation for is also including that we could not contact them at all during the Covid period for any information. I see that the cost for same period next year is almost £1000 - NOT WORTH IT. "

" The location was good, kitchen and bathroom facilities were good and it was warm. Overall it was not up to scratch for the price as at £105 per night it is not cheap. "

" The cottage itself is lovely - quite basic - took ages to work out the tv and the bed isn't the most comfy. But that's not really what you go away for! I had a twisted ankle so things like the tv wouldn't normally be an issue. I would definitely go back. It was great for the dogs! "

"Otherwise, absolutely loved the cottage and the location is amazing. Had a fantastic week away. The pub food next door was really good too."

" From Friday , we ate & drank in the Hotel. [ adding approx. £150 .to the near £600 paid. On Tues we arrived at 5-15., got our drinks & were shown to a empy table by a Barman/manager . At 5-30 I went to order our food ,[ had been told previously start at 5-00.] & was told Even though we were residents we could not order food before 8-00 [ two & half hours !!!! ] Obviously I told him what we thought & five minutes later a young waitress arrived to say they had a cancellation for 7-15. no chance . SO To save £8 [ half price his idea ???? ] He cost his hotel a further £150 ?? as we would not spend another penny at the Old Hall ., PLUS we intended to return in Oct [ further £££] We instead have booked to go to th Forresters Arms . [ Far Better Deal ] Phil. & Janice Hingley . "
