Dale View is a warmly received cottage, praised for its prime location in the Yorkshire Dales, offering stunning views and a plethora of walks right from the doorstep. Guests find the cottage cosy, well-equipped, and particularly suitable for walkers and nature enthusiasts. The local pub and village shop add to the convenience, enhancing the stay with local hospitality.
The majority of guests report the cottage as clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments on areas needing improvement, such as cobwebs and dusty spots. The overall impression remains positive, with high standards of cleanliness noted in several reviews.
The location is highly acclaimed, with guests loving the proximity to walking paths, local amenities, and the tranquil setting. The stunning views and ease of access to the Yorkshire Dales contribute to a near-perfect score.
Comfort is consistently highlighted, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the cottage warm and inviting. Some mention low beams and a stone staircase as points of caution for taller guests, but overall, the cottage is seen as a cosy retreat.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good Wi-Fi. Some guests mention the need for more logs for the woodburner and minor maintenance issues like a wobbly toilet seat, suggesting room for improvement.
While guests appreciate the well-stocked kitchen and immediate essentials, there are no consistent mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate a level of thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

The cottage is in ideal situ for getting in some local walks, Buckden Pike especially and, also, not far away from some charming neighbouring villages. The cottage itself is quaint in a rustic and somewhat neglected fashion. The low ceiling and concrete staircase are distinctive and certainly reflect the age of the property along with several layers of dust and dirt that have accumulated over the years. Although the property generally has everything you need, be prepared to bring the essentials: salt and paper, tea and coffee and don't expect any greeting hamper. Some areas of the property were lacking cleanliness, some plates and glasses were dirty and placed back in the cupboards. And unfortunately the bathroom wasn't properly cleaned on arrival with hairs in bath/shower. This somewhat tainted the experience with the uncertainty of the cleanliness of the property. Overall we had a nice stay, although some minor improvements would have made the visit lovely.

It is in a perfect location for getting around the Dales. We were very happy with everything. And it was great to be able to switch off from the outside World quite literally, as Buckden is a complete dead zone as soon as you hit it - no phone calls, texts or 4G! But the cottage supplied a landline and WiFi. Also take a torch, as when going to the lovely Buck Inn at night for tea it's pitch black! The pub meals were fantastic with lots of choice, the local shop has the basics, and download a PDF map before you go if you decide to walk to the Pike or do the circular walk! We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, and thought the community bonfire with no fireworks was a lovely touch on the 5th!
