About this property

Situated in the heart of picturesque Buckden, North Yorkshire, Clifford House Farm is a 17th century detached, stone-built farmhouse, enjoying views up toward Buckden Pike. Spacious and furnished with a homely touch, Clifford House Farm offers a charming base for a family of eleven and their furry companions, looking to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Benefit from ample off-road parking, taking in your rural position, before heading indoors to unwind in one of the two sitting rooms on offer, one benefitting from a rustling open fire, and the other is multi-fuel stove, providing plenty of space to break off and relax. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped with an AGA, washer/dryer and dishwasher, providing all the essentials for a self-catered stay, where you can prepare and enjoy mealtimes together; if the weather allows, why not entertain outside by lighting the barbecue and dining alfresco, toasting to your getaway? As day turns into night, retreat to one of five bedrooms on offer, including a super-king-size, a king-size with en-suite, two ground-floor twins, and a family room for flexibility. The home is complete with a sleek shower room, where you can sooth sore walking muscles in the monsoon shower, or why not enjoy a soak in the bathroom, before exploring your surroundings, set in a prime position to enjoy the Dales. Outdoor enthusiasts will relish in the chance to hike, tour, and discover a wealth of beauty spots across the national park, starting off with Middle Falls, Cauldron Falls and Aysgarth Falls, whilst those interested in history can delve into the past at the Dales Countryside Museum. Travelling south, be sure to trek through Malham Cove for breath-taking valley views, visit Gordale Scar for beautiful scenes of flowing streams and waterfalls, or tour the underground landscape of Jubilee Cave. Round off your break with a guided tour of Ingleborough Cave, or don your walking boots to follow the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail, before reaching the amenities of Clapham, where you can dine out and enjoy a tipple at Lake House Food & Drink, set near the beck. Take to the countryside at Clifford House Farm.

Nestling at the foot of Buckden Pike, near the head of Upper Wharfedale, this idyllic village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned – an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking areas in the Dales with The Dales Way passing nearby. The village itself comprises a cluster of stone-built cottages and houses with a traditional green at its centre. A perfect location for a holiday!

The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a very special holiday. Spacious rooms, cosy decor and a fabulous family-sized kitchen. The complimentary logs for the fire was a lovely bonus!! Sainsbury's had a lot of trouble finding us on the Saturday so worth going with another supermarket. An authentic Dales cottage with a great local pub and lots of scenic walks straight out of the village. We'll be back!
