Or take a short drive to Skipton, a historic market town with one of the oldest and largest markets in the UK that has been held in the town centre since 1204. Skipton Castle, built in 1090, is one of the most well-preserved castles in England and is open to the public for tours and events; refuel at The Woolly Sheep Inn, a traditional English pub serving locally-sourced food and drink. The Forest of Bowland AONB and the Yorkshire Dales National Park lie close to the cottage and are bursting with trails, walks to explore and breath-taking views to admire. Bowland Fell Cottage is a fabulous setting for family gathering in the heart of North Yorkshire.

Tosside is a small, picturesque village in the Yorkshire Dales, located between the Forest of Bowland and the Dales themselves and about fifteen miles from Skipton, also known as The Gateway to the Dales. After boundary changes in the 1970s, the village, which was historically a part of Yorkshire, is now split between the two counties of Yorkshire to the east and Lancashire to the west. There is a community centre, church, and bar in the village. While the fells, moors, and picturesque valleys of the Dales rise to the north, the wetlands of the Ribble Valley rise to the south, and the magnificent wilderness of Bowland rises to the west. Guests can take a day trip to nearby Settle, a thriving market town dominated by the Shambles, a historic three-story building with shops on two levels and houses above, or take a ride on the world-famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line, which traverses some of the most breathtaking and awe-inspiring upland scenery in the country. Visit Clitheroe, a thriving market town with a castle, great food, and welcoming pubs.

Cottage was a really great size for three couples and an 18month old. Outside space was really good especially for the toddler. Helped that the weather was fantastic and the garden was well used. All rooms were clean and tidy I have nothing negative to say about that. Limited food in the on-site pub when we all went ( light bites only ) but that’s a minor issue.

Beds were very comfortable. Lots of storage space. Feel that the kitchen lacked some basic equipment such as a potato peeler. Having no cleaning spray, cleaning cloths etc, spare black bags meant we had to buy some. Spa Bath didn't work. Having the conservatory was a nice place to sit what ever the weather and the children enjoyed the games room, having a shower room off of there was useful. Large fridge freezer and second freezer. Swimming pool gets booked up so book early. Play areas good. Need to bring your own teatowels, oven gloves, cleaning clothes, dishwasher tablets and washing powder. Some small bottles of shower gel etc provided. It was a very relaxing and quiet place to stay, would recommend.
