The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. The owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful. Upon arrival we were greeted by Michelle and a fabulous welcome pack was in the cottage for ourselves and our 2 dogs. Highly recommended and extremely good value for money.

Comfortable sofas and a very warming Woodburner made our stay cosy and chilled. The wide-screen TV was also a bonus as was the the lovely peacocks and friendly dogs....a great place to stay...highly recommended!

Exceptionally dog friendly and provides unrivalled access to the Dales. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and immediately booked another week in the summer. Definitely one to remember and return to regularly.
