About this property

Folly Cottage is an endearing mid-terrace stone cottage, located in the bustling town of Settle, North Yorkshire. Ideal for a group of adults or a small family, this delightful property makes a superb base for enjoying the picturesque scenery and exploring the local area. Entering via a cobbled street, on-street parking is available before stepping through the stone-walled gate and through the courtyard into the property, a small foyer welcomes you to leave your shoes and coats before making your way through the rest of the house. From here, an open-plan living space invites you in to enjoy a lovely living area, featuring a TV, an electric woodburning-style stove, a plush sofa and an armchair so you can rest your feet and snuggle up in the evenings. The open-plan continues into the kitchen and dining area where you will find dining seating for three guests and everything you need to cook up a storm on the induction hob and electric oven, as well as a handy washing machine and a storage cupboard containing a fridge/freezer for your needs throughout your stay. Climb the stairs up to the first floor where the first of two bedrooms awaits, the first being a single with ample storage for your belongings, complete with hanging space and a full length mirror to prepare for the day ahead. The second bedroom hosts a double and boasts vast views of the village from the window as well as a charming dressing table and a freestanding wardrobe. Back into the hallway, the exposed wooden beams ooze traditional cottage character before entering the shower room, fitted with a walk-in shower, vanity-style basin and a WC where you can freshen up between activities. Outside, the courtyard garden offers seating for three to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning or perhaps an evening glass of wine to catch-up on the day’s events. The town of Settle has plenty to offer within walking distance from the property so why not explore your surroundings and visit some of the local pubs and restaurants for a well-deserved break from the kitchen. The village is host to the Talbot Arms, a traditional pub with a spacious garden serving local ales and homemade meals, and Sydney’s, a quaint restaurant specialising in tapas, Artisan pizzas and coffee. Embrace the culture of your local surroundings by visiting Settle’s only Grade I listed building The Folly, built in the 17th century this magnificent building was once a symbol of wealth and power but now plays host to exhibitions and an Artisan Gallery, coupled with the Coffee House this makes for a fascinating day out for everyone. Just a short car journey away is the The Richard Whiteley Theatre, named after the legendary countdown presenter, this quirky theatre was established in 2008 by a local fundraising appeal and hosts music shows and theatre productions year round. For the thrill-seeking type, why not visit Castleberg Rock, a rock-climbing site suitable for all capabilities, or enjoy the nine holes at Settle and Giggleswick Golf Club, equally as serene as it is steeped in history, this hidden gem was formed in 1895 with the first ever match played by Tom Vardon, brother of Harry Vardon of the famous Vardon grip. Whatever your style of adventure, choose Folly Cottage for an unforgettable trip to Yorkshire.

Nestled amidst the largest limestone outcrop in Britain lies Settle, conveniently located on the outskirts of the striking Yorkshire Dales National Park and just 29 miles from Leeds Bradford airport. The historic market town hosts a market each Tuesday where fresh local produce, crafts and goods are sold whilst bustling local businesses surround it such as the popular The Shambles, home to two floors of shops and houses right above. Boasting ample shopping and dining opportunities such as the Talbot Arms pub and restaurant, and The Golden Lion, a 17th century pub with both indoor and pretty al fresco dining. Highly recommended.

Modern refurb. Just a stones throw from the middle of settle. A throw blanket could have been handy for sitting on the sofa in the evening but that’s a minor point. The cottage was cosy. Great communication.

Thank you for the tea/coffee/milk and biscuits! Only one thing to point out - it would be very handy to have a mirror in the bathroom which has an inbuilt de mist action as the ventilation was not very efficient.
